In a huge development for the Atlantic Coast Conference, the University of Notre Dame is joining the ACC for all sports except football.  The Fighting Irish will schedule five games annually against conference teams.  The ACC does not have hockey, so Notre Dame may remain in the Big East for that sport. The Big East requires 27 months to depart the conference, although teams like West Virginia, Syracuse and Pittsburgh left earlier by paying a fee.
