Fantasy Pulse: Week 2 Extra Point
San Francisco 49ers 27, Detroit Lions 19
Lions- With the exception of WR Calvin Johnson, no Detroit receiver is stepping up. Johnson was targeted 12 times, no other receiver was targeted more than four times. Until WR Nate Burleson and WR Titus Young receive more consistent looks, leave them on your bench. The Lions you should be starting every week are QB Matthew Stafford, Johnson, TE Brandon Pettigrew and RB Kevin Smith.
49ers- I can't stress this enough, QB Alex Smith is a reliable fantasy QB. His weapons (other than RB Frank Gore and TE Vernon Davis) are inconsistent, but Smith is an excellent ball distributor and finds ways to put up respectable points every week. He's not an elite option, but I'd be starting him over guys like Joe Flacco and Matt Schaub with confidence.
Atlanta Falcons 27, Denver Broncos 21
Broncos- RB Willis McGahee continues to produce (113 yards and 2 scores) and should be in your lineup every week. With QB Peyton Manning at the helm, expect McGahee to be a Top 10 back. Keep an eye on WR Brandon Stokely. Third receivers typically thrive in a Manning-run offense, so he may be someone you want to grab.
Falcons- A DUI is probably not going to help get RB Michael Turner back to his usual productive self. So far this season, Turner has 28 carries and is only averaging 2.6 yards an attempt. It won't be long until RB Jacquizz Rodgers gets more involved in the Falcons offense. Don't give him away, but it might be time to unload Turner.
