On the Ice: Caps Johansson week to week
Marcus Johansson, the Capitals 2009 first round draft pick, was hurt in the Monday night game against the Ottawa Senators. HC Bruce Boudreau said that Johansson will be week to week, meaning, he will be missing some games. When asked if Johansson would play this week, Boudreau said he is 'defintely' out.
Tom Poti missed Monday night game with a undisclosed lower body injury. Matt Bradley left the Monday night game early with a lower body injury as well. His status is uncertain. Neither Poti or Brads are expected to play tomorrow. That means Tyler Sloan will be the go on defense and we will likely see Dave Steckel back in the lineup and possibly a season debut for DJ King. King has been a healthy scratch in the first three games. Coach Boudreau said he does not expect any Hershey call ups at this point.
Semyon Varlamov has said he is 100%. Thats good.
However, Varly is not getting the nod on Wednesday. Coach Boudreau affirmed the start will go to Michal Neuvirth, in which we say, well deserved. Neuvirth has started all three Caps games and is 2-1 with a 2.62 GAA and save percentage of .920. He has made some pretty terrific saves and has been one of the primary reasons the Caps have won the last two agmes.
