Mike Green named Alternate Captain for NHL AS Game
The Captain selections for the NHL All Star Game were a bit odd. However, so were the Alternate Captains.
In a new All Star Game format will see the conference vs. conference approach replaced by a player draft, conducted by the All-Star players themselves, to determine the rosters for each team. No more Eastern versus Western. It's wide open, player driven, player determined. The 2011 NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft will be Friday, Jan. 28, to kick off All-Star Weekend. Captains for each side will select from a pool of players chosen by a combination of fan balloting and the NHL itself.
The Captains were named last week, which were Eric Staal and Nicklas Lindstrom.
Alternate captains were selected today and Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green was named one of four alternate captains. The other three named were Patrick Kane, Ryan Kesler, and Martin St. Louis. Green and Kesler join Team Staal team, while St. Louis and Kane join Team Lindstrom.
Congrats to Greenie!
