The Washington Capitals have acquired defenseman Tomas Kundratek from the New York Rangers in exchange for right winger Francois Bouchard. The minor deal was completed before the game tonight against the Dallas Stars.

Kundratek was drafted by the Rangers 90th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft, and has since become an important for their AHL affiliate, the Connecticut Whale. Last season, the Czech defenseman put up 12 points in 70 AHL games.

Francois Bouchard was selected by the Caps in the second round of the 2006 Draft, 35th overall, but has yet to make an impact with the team. He fell out of favor with the AHL's Hershey Bears this summer after a long string of high-profile signings this summer.

Kundratek is expected to report to the Bears.
