On the Ice: Caps numbers and more

Surprise, surprise, Boyd Gordon left last nights game injured.  Now, on to bigger and better things ...

The Washington Capitals have now won 6 consecutive games, the 9th time the team has won five or more in a row under HC Bruce Boudreau.  They are 12-4 and sport the best mark in the NHL with 24 standing points.  With a big win over Tampa Bay last night, the Caps extend their Southeast Division lead to 6 points over the Lightning (24-18).  They also improved to 8-1 at the Verizon Center. 

Caps Streaks:

Alexander Ovechkin extended his point streak to 8straight games.  Ovie also has assists in 6straight games.  Through 5 games in November, Ovechkin has 2 goals and 8 assists.  He leads the Washington Capitals in overall points with 23. 

Alexander Semin extended his point streak to 6games.  In November, Semin has scored 6 goals and added 4 assists.  He also has two hat tricks in this young NHL season.

Mike Knuble has a 3 game point streak.  he also has scored goals in 2 straight games.

Michal Neuvirth has won 5 straight games. 

Caps in the Leaders:

Alexander Ovechkin is 2nd overall in the NHL in points (23).  He trails Steven Stamkos by 3 points.  Ovie is also 4th overall in goals (9) and 2nd overall in assists (14).

Alexander Semin is 2nd overall in goals (12) trailing Stamkos by 2.  He is 4th overall in points (21) and tied for 3rd overall in power play goals (4). 

Nicklas Backstrom is 2nd overall in the NHL in assists (14).  He is 5th overall in points (18).   

Brooks Laich is 2nd overall in the NHL in +/- with a +13.  Mike Green is 6th overall with a +9. 

David Steckel is 4th overall in the NHL in face off win percentage (60.9%).

Michal Neuvirth is 1st overall among goal tenders in wins (10). 

John Carlson is 3rd among rookies in points (9), 1st among rookies in +/- (+7), and 2nd among rookies in assists (7).
