Capitals extend contract offers to 5, snub 3
The Washington Capitals have extended contract offers to veterans Karl Alzner, Francois Bouchard, Troy Brouwer, Mathieu Perrault and goalie Semyon Varlamov -- meaning the Caps have rights over all those players. However, Trevor Bruess, Joe Finley and Josh Godfrey did not get contract offers, moving them into unrestricted free agency. They are now free to sign anywhere else.
