The Washington Capitals face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. The game is pretty significant. The Caps are dead tied with the Philadelphia Flyers for the overall lead in the Eastern Conference, 103-103. Both teams have three games remaining on their regular season schedule. The Caps face Toronto tonight, and Florida on Wednesday and Saturday. The Flyers face Ottawa tonight, Buffalo Friday, and New York Islanders on Saturday.
Michal Neuvirth will man the net for the Capitals again tonight, riding a four game winning streak. Neuvy allowed 4 goals on Saturday against Buffalo, but played well enough to preserve the 5-4 win and win his fourth consecutive math up. Of note tonight, Alexander Semin will not play. The indication is that Semin may be resting a wrist injury. Mike Green indicated his concussion symptoms are over and now he is working to get back into game shape. Green indicted he would like to return somewhere in the final three games. It will not be tonight, he did not make the trip. Greenie has been missing since February 25. Tom Poti also did not make the trip. He has been out since January 12 and has only played in 21 games this season. Dennis Wideman is out with a leg hematoma. John Erskine and Tyler Sloan have also been injured in the last two games, but neither is serious, and both are expected to return soon.
A prospect note, Caps first round draft choice last season, Evgeny Kuznetsov, injured his shoulder playing in Russian. His season is done and he is expected to undergo shoulder surgery.
