RED ALERT: Caps Orlov to Chocolatetown
The Sweetest town on the planet, Hershey, Pennsylvania, is getting ready for their own version of, a Russian invasion. The Washington Capitals 2009 2nd round pick, 55th overall, Dmitri Orlov is heading to the Hershey Bears as he makes his first move toward the NHL and the Capitals. The Russian defenseman is one of the Capitals top prospects in their system.
Hockey Future has Orlov ranked 4th in the system. However, since Marcus Johansson and Mathieu Perreault seem to be sticking in Washington, you could move him up to #2 behind 2010 1st round Evgeny Kuznetsov. Here is what Hockey Future has to say about his strengths and weaknesses.
There have been several rampant running rumors. One had the Caps offering top prospect Cody Eakin and Mathieu Perreault with a first round pick to Dallas for Brad Richards. Other rumors out there have the Caps shopping Alexander Semin. Whatever it may be, the NHL is in full trade swing and Caps fans are getting anxious that McPhee is sitting on his hands too long. We shall soon see.
All eyes turn to the Caps front office, as the team prepares for a Sunday, 12:30PM, showdown in Buffalo with the struggling to score Buffalo Sabres.
