Caps extend Jason Chimera
The Washington Capitals have agreed to a contract extension with F Jason Chimera. The extension takes Chimera's deal through the 2013-14 season.
Last season Chimera tallied 10 goals and 16 assists in 81 games, only missing one game for the season. Of those stats, 2 goals and an assist came out on the Capitals power play. Chimera was traded to Washington at the midway mark of the 2009-2010 season from Columbus. In each of his seasons in Washington, he has increased his goal and assist totals.
Along with Alexander Semin, Jeff Schultz, and Mike Green, Chimera was often the target of speculation articles on players who could possibly be moved at the trade deadline.
3 Sent Down: The Capitals roster is closer to complete. Chris Bourque, Patrick McNeill, and Sean Collins were designated to Hershey. Bourques must clear waivers. With the designation of Bourque, it leaves Mathieu Perreault, Mattis Sjogren, and Cody Eaking to battle for the final roster slot.
Holby to DC: Goalie Braden Holtby was recalled from the Hershey Bears. Reportedly, Michal Neuvirth is 'nursing' a minor injury and will take the day off.
