The same day that Adam Oates achieved the next benchmark of his NHL hockey career, being named the head coach of the Washington Capitals, Oates was also elected today to the NHL Hall of Fame.

Joining Oates in his Hall induction are Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin, and Pavel Bur.  They will formally be inducted on November 12, 2012 in Toronto.

Congrats to the new Caps bench boss!  Oates becomes the 6th former Washington Capitals to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
