Caps notes, Andrew Gordon recalled
The Washington Capitals, in the midst of a five game losing streak, and yes, it is a five gaming losing streak without a win, head on the road and face off tonight against the New York Rangers. The Caps then come home against Anaheim on Wednesday before heading out on a two game weekend road trip with Boston and Ottawa.
* Defenseman Mike Green did not make the New York trip. It is unclear if his absence last game and tonight is due to illness or injury.
* The Capitals did indeed recall Andrew Gordon from Hersehy and will see ice time tonight. Gordon is tied for second overall in the AHL in scoring, tallying 16 goals and 15 assist for Hershey this season. With Gordon's arrival in Washington, a Cap is likely headed to the IR. Mike Green?
* It appears Semyon Varlamov may get the nod tonight and could make a few consecutive starts, according to HC Bruce Boudreau. Varly is riding a two game losing streak, but has only given up 11 goals over his last 6 games. He has allowed 6 of those 11 over his last 2 games.
* According to Boudreau, Alex Ovechkin played a better game in the loss to Colorado, but Boudreau also said it is one game, he wants to see consistency from Great 8. [cmasisak22]
* Tyler Sloan is due off the IR today, but he will not be on ice.
