Caps sign Crabb and Hillen

The Washington Capitals have certainly not been an active franchise in free agency. They signed a depth forward in former Pred Joey Crabb and inked depth D Jack Hillen. Certainly not big splashes. Crabb is considered a fourth line forward. Hillen is considered a third line defenseman who played in 55 games last season. The Hillen signing is more questionable given the that type of defense depth already on the roster .

Caps GM Geroge McPhee has stuck to his guns in that his evaluation of free agents was weak this season and that the best moves are ones that are not made. He has stuck to that.

Still no word on the future of Caps free agent Alexander Semin. Semin market could develop after Zach Parise signs a deal, expected to sign with Pittsburgh.

Both deals are on way deals.
