Caps notes and injury updates
The Washington Capitals are marred in a 6 game losing streak. The longest of HC Bruce Boudreau's tenure as the Caps head coach. The Caps latest flub was a 7-0 blow out at the hands of the New York Rangers. The Caps fan base is split between "relax, this will only make the team stronger" to "all out panic, fire Bruce, and the world is ending." Even the media and blog world is split over could Boudreau be fired to this will be good for the Capitals in the run for the Cup. really, in reality, ridiculousness. Caps are slumping and they will ermerge from the slump.
The concern I have, more so than the losing streak, is the failures on the power play and the pourous defense. Why? because these concerns linger from the playoff collapse last year. Additionally, I am also a bit concerned abotu Alex Ovechkin, his lack of scoring prowess and whether his 'C' is enough to help lead this team in a time of need.
On to updates.
Alexander semin did not practice today and is listed as day to day. Boyd Gordon did not practice and will likely miss one to two weeks. Marcus Johansson did not practice today because of the illness. The Washington roster has been decimated by illness over the last week. Good news --- Mike Green did practice today and could be ready to go tomorrow. The defense is already missing Jeff Schultz from a broken thumb.
