Michal Neuvirth starts for Caps on Saturday

Washington Capitals HC Bruce Boudreau has been clear all off-season who the starter is between the pipes.  That man is Tomas Vokoun.  He has not been shy about the fact that when you acquire an elite net minder, the elite net minder starts

Except for the opener.

The Capitals have confirmed that Michal Neuvirth has been selected as the starter when the Caps open their season on Saturday.  The news is quite surprising, but I would not read more into it than the fact that, well, Michal Neuvirth is starting on Saturday.

In pre-season, Neuvirth started 3 games and posted a 1.35 GAA and an impressive .949 save percentage.  Vokoun also played in three games and posted a 3.26 GAA and a .870 save percentage.
