Nats Minor Report: Espinosa, Marrero, and Bloxom sizzle
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) were off.
Harrisburg Senators (AA) swept a double header. In game one, the Senators won 4-1. Jason Jones pitched 4 scoreless innings and Adam Carr (5-1) won his 5th, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing a run. Zechery Zinicola threw a scoreless 9th for his 6thsave. The bot remains with Danny Espinosa who went 3-4 with another home run. Chris Marrero remains hot as well, going 2-4 and hitting his 9th home run.
In game two, Senators prevailed 11-6 over New Britain. Espinosa went 2-3 homering again, his 7thon the year and his third consecutive game with a home run. Espinosa has 9 RBI in his last three games and has gone 6 for 12. Marrero went 3 for 4 and scored 2 runs. He is hitting .287 with 9 home runs on the season. Tim Pahuta double twice and drove in 3 runs. Pahuta is hitting .323 over his last 10 games. Rafael martin (2-0) got the win, despite allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 2 innings. Starter Chuck James went 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs.
Potomac Nationals(A) lost 8-0 and only managed 3 hits all night, 2 coming off the bat of Jose Lozada. Evan Bronson (2-5) pitched 4.2 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 runs.
Hagerstown Suns(A), like their AA partners, swept a double header. Game one the Suns own 5-4. Luis Garcia (1-0) picked up the win in relief throwing 3 scoreless innings. Francisco Soriano went 3 for 3 and homered (1). Steve Souza went 2-4 and red hot Justin Bloxom went 2-4 with 3 RBI and hit his third homer.
In game two, Paul Demny (5-2) threw 5 innings, allowed 2 runs to pick up the win. His ERA is at 3.06. Ron Wort picked up his 5thsave with a scoreless inning. Bloxom again was amazingly hot. He went 4 for 4 with a double and his 4thhome run and 3 more RBI. Over his last 10 games, Bloxom is hitting .410. He has an 8 game hitting streak in which he has gone 14 for 30 (.466) with 5 doubles and 4 home runs. JP Ramirez hit a double and knocked in 2 runs. Soriano was 1 for 3 and is hitting .333 over his last 10 games.
