Nats Minor Rep: Rosenbaum dominates
Syracuse Chiefs were pounded 15-4 and no one took the pounding harder than starter Jason Jones (1-6). Jones only pitched .2 innings, but gave up 9 hits and 10 runs , recording just 2 outs before he was yanked. Dan Leatherman allowed 1 run and 4 hits over 1.1 innings. Leatherman was promoted to Syracuse after posting a sub 2.00 ERA and recording 11 saves at Potomac. Jason Botts (7) and Seth Bynum (9) each homered for the Chiefs. Botts drove in 3 of the 4 Chiefs runs.
Harrisburg Senators lost 8-3. Aaron Thompson fell to 4-11 allowing 4 hits and 4 runs over 4 innings. Marvin Lowrance and Jesus Valdez each had 2 hits for the Senators. Adam Fox hit his first home run. Lowrance is 5 for 9 with 3 runs scored in hits 2 games and is hitting .333 over his last 10 games.
Potomac Nationals put up a 16 hit barrage on their way to a 10-1 win. They were led by solid pitching prospect and recent promotee Daniel Rosenbaum, who tossed 8 shutout innings and allowed 5 hits and 5 strike outs. He is now 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in his first two Potomac starts since being promoted from Hagerstown. Overall, combined between the two, Rosenbaum has made 20 starts and is 4-5 with a 2.13 ERA and recording 92 strikeouts in 114 innings. Steve Lombardozzi tripled, his 9th of the season, and went 2 for 5. Derek Norris and Tyler Moore each had 2 hits. Robert Jacobsen went 2 for 3, tripled, scored twice and drove in a run. Bill Rhinehart went 2 for 4 smacking his 8th home run and scoring three times. Francisco Soriano went 0-3 in his Potomac debut, after being promoted form Hagerstown.
Hagerstown Suns played a double header. Jordan Zimmerman, making his5th rehab start, was touched up for 6 runs and 7 hits over 5 innings to take the loss in Game 1. Jeff Kobernus was 1 for 3 with a double. He is batting .285. JP Ramirez hit his 10th home run. 2010 3rd round pick Rick Hague made his Hagerstown debut, going 1-3. In Game 2, Evan Bronson (1-0) allowed 2 runs over 5 innings and recording 6 strikeouts to earn the win. Deston Hood hit his second triple and knocked in 2 runs. Matt Jones went 2 for 3 with 2 runs and an RBI. Eury Perez doubled and homered, going 2 for 2 and knocking in 4 runs. He is batting .279. Perez remains hot at the plate, hitting .452 over his last 10 games.
Vermont Lake Monsterslost 8-3. Bobby Hansen (3-2) took the loss, allowing 7 hits and 4 runs over 5.1 innings. Jason Martinson went 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Conner Rowe went 2 for 4 and hit his second home run.
Minor League System movement
Tons of movement in the system over the last few days.
Starting at AAA Syracuse, P Victor Garate was placed on the Disabled List. Adam Carr was promoted from AA to AAA after posting a 61 record with 5 saves and a 3.04 ERA in Harrisburg. Dan Leatherman made the A to AAA jump after posting a 3-2 record with 11 saves and a 2.12 ERA in Potomac.
At AA Harrisburg, P Jimmy Barthmaeir was sent down to Potomac. Brad Peacock was promoted from A. Peacock posted a 47-9 record with a 4.44 ERA at Potomac. He recorded 118 strikeouts in 103 innings. Peacock leads the Nats system in strikeouts.
Francisco Soriano was promoted form Hagerstown to Potomac. Potomac activated Wilberto Oritz from the 7 day DL. Shane McCatty was promoted from Vermont to Hagerstown.
