Nats minor league roundup (5/25)

Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) won 13 last night.  Red hot Corey Brown went 3 for 5 with a triple, home run, and 2 RBI.  On the season, Brown is now batting .294 with 9 doubles, 3 triples, and 11 home runs.  His 11 home runs leads the Nationals minor league system.  Here is the tear Brown is on.  Over his last 10 games, Brown is batting .381 with 6 home runs and 14 RBI.  Over his last 3 games, he is 7 for 14 with 3 homers and 8 RBI.  Seth Bynum went 3 for 4 with a home run, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Jhotanan Solano and Breett Carrol each had two hits.  Zach Duke (5-2) picked up the win, but allowed 8 hits and 4 runs over 6 innings.

Harrisburg Senators (AA) won 5-4.  Eury Perez and Manny Mayorson both had two hits.  Sean Nichol had a double and an RBI.  He is batting .300.  Robert Gilliam (1-5) got tagged with his fifth loss, throwing 6 innings and allowing 4 hits and 4 walks and 5 runs.   Kevin Pucetas threw two more shutout innings and lowerd his season ERA out of the Senators bullpen to 1.67.

Potomac Nationals (A) were off last night.

Hagerstown Suns (A) swept a double headers.  In game 1, Taylor Hill (4-3) threw 6.1 shutout innings and allowed just 3 hits while fanning 7 batters.  Aaron Barrett pitched a scoreless 2/3 to pick up his 4th save.  Matthew Skole and Caleb Ramsey each drove in a run.  The Suns offense only mustered 4 hits.

In Game 2, Billy Burns and Cutter Dykstra each had two hist at the top of the lineup.  Burns raised his average to .313 while Dykstra raised his to .307.  Jason Martinson tripled in 2 runs while Matthews Skole, who leads the Nationals minor league system in RBI, drove in 2 more runs.  He was also 2 for 4.  Pedro Encarnacion threw 5 innings and allowed 3 hits and 2 runs.  Christopher Bates (1-0) blew the save but picked up his first win, throwing 3 innings and allowing 2 hits and 1 run while fanning 3.
