Strasburg lifts Nats, will be shut down September 12
Stephen Strasburg pitched 6 shut out innings today to help the Washington Nationals dump the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3. Strasburg allowed just 2 hits, walked 1, while fanning 9 Cardinal batters. He lowered his season ERA to 2.94.
After the sparking performance, the Nationals confirmed that September 12 would be his final start of the 2012 season, despite the fact that Nats appear headed to the playoffs.
