Nats minor league roundup for Saturday
Syracuse Chiefs lost 9-6 last night. Yuneksy Maya got lit up for 6 hits and 7 runs over 5.2 innings. He also allowed 3 walks. Not a good start for Maya. His ERA rose above 3 to 3.36. Mark Teahe, Jim Negrych, and Jhotonon Solano each had two hits. Teahen and Carlos Rivero drove in two runs apiece.
Harrisburg Senators won 5-4. Eury Perez and Jose Lozada each had three hits. Lozada hit his second home run and raised his average to .312. Tim Pahuta hit his sixth hoes run. Paul Demny (4-2) earned the win, throwing 5.2 innings and allowed 7 hits and 3 runs. Kevin Pucetas threw 2.1 scoreless innings in field. Pucetas ERA is an impressive 1.53. Erik Davis allowed a run in one inning, but earned his third save.
Potomac Nationals lost 7-2. Matt Swynenberg (3-3) allowed 8 hits and 6 runs over 5.2 innings. JP Ramirez was 3-4 and raised his batting average to .333.
Hagerstown Suns won game1 of a double header 7-1. Nathan Karns continues to impress throwing a 7 inning complete game, allowing 1 run on just 1 hit. He fanned 10 batters. Karns has been impressive in his starts and out the Suns bullpen. Karns lowered his season ERA to 2.35. Look for a Karns promotion to Potomac soon. Kids needs a bigger challenge. Jason Martinson, Matthew Skole, and Steve Souza each had two hits. Skole hit his tenth home run and added to his South Atlantic leading RBI lead with 47. Martinson drove in his 42 run. Caleb Ramsey was 1-4 and is batting .301.
The Suns dropped game two 7-5. Jason Smith allowed 5 runs over just 1.2 innings to earn the loss, he is 0-1. Skole was 3-3 and drive in his 48th run. He is now batting .313. Time for a promotion? Draft pick Brian Goodwin was 2-3 with a double and a triple. Martinson was 1-3 with a runs scored. Justin Miller added 2 hits and a double.
