Nats minors leaders, Matt Purke assigned to Hagerstown
First, taking a look at system transactions, originally assigned to Potomac, but having not yet pitched his first game, Matt Purke has been reassigned to the Hagerstown Suns. he seems destined to make his major league career start in Hagerstown. Purke was the 3rd round draft selection of the 2011 MLB Draft and was considered a steal in the third round. Purke was highly regarded and for most of the 2011 MLB Draft season leading up to the draft was thought to be a Top 10 pick, but slipped because of injury concerns. Nats nabbed him with the 96th overall selection. Making room for Purke, P Brian Dupra was placed on the 7 Day disabled list by the Suns. Other moves include Erik Komatsu being assigned to Syracuse to replace recently called up Corey Brown. Jimmy Van Ostrand was assigned to Harrisburg.
