Nats surge halted, Lannan shelled again
The Washington Nationals, after winning three straight and taking sole possession of second place in the NL East, fell tot he Florida Marlins in consecutive days. John Lannan, the Nats ace, struggled again, getting racked for 9 hits, 6 runs in 5 innings. In 6 starts this season, Lannan has allowed less than 3 runs just once, on April 16 against Milwaukee when he went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Lanna also walked 3 batters, putting 12 base runners on the paths.
The two reliever struggling thus far this season, finished no better off. Miguel Batista allowed 1 hit and 1 run, raising his ERA to 5.81. Brian Bruney continues his struggles as well, going 1.2 innings and allowing 3 hits, 3 walks, and 2 runs. He has posted an ERA of 6.23
The Nationals offense only managed 6 hits. Adam Dunn and Ian Desmond both doubled in a run.
