DISCUSS NATS MINORS

Quiet night in the Nationals farm system.  Both Harrisburg and Potomac were off.

Syracuse Chiefs(AAA) lost 4-2.  Matt Chico threw 6 innings and allowed 6 hits, 5 runs and 6 strikeouts.  Colin Balestar threw 1.2 scoreless innings to bring his ERA under 10.00 to 9.68.  Balestar has struggled all season.  Leonard Davis continues hitting hard and well.  He went 1 for 3 and homered, his 4th in AAA and 9th of the season.  He has hit 3 home runs in his last two games and 4 home runs in his last 5 games.

Hagerstown Suns(A) lost 8-3.  Highly touted 2008 draftee Josh Smoker (0-7) continues getting pounded, pitching 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 5 runs and striking out 8.  Not a good sign getting hit hard at Low A.  2009 second round pick Jeff Kobernus went 3-4 with 2 doubles.  He is hitting .258.  Francisco Soriano was 2-5 and Justin Bloxom went 1 for 3 hitting his 2nd home run.
