Nats minor report: 5th rounder Jason Martinson is 4-10 in first 3 games

Syracuse Chiefs(AAA) lost 6-1 last night despite a solid debut start by Jason Jones, who was recently promoted to AAA from AA.  Erik Arnesen was reassigned from AAA to AA.  Jones pitched 7.1 innings, allowed 4 hits and 2 runs with 4 strikeouts.  Ron Villone got pounded out of the bullpen, not even recording an out but allowing 3 runs on 3 hits.  The Chiefs offense could only managed 6 singles on the night.

Harrisburg Senators, Potomac Nationals, and Hagerstown Suns did not play. 

Vermont Lake Monsters (Short A) won 5-3 to improve to 3-1.  2008 4th rounder Graham Hicks (1-0) threw 5 innings and allowed 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 8 to earn the win.   2010 23rd round pick Colin Bates earned the save, pitching 2 scoreless innings, not allowing a hit, and striking out 3.  2010 5thround Jason Martinson, the highest Nats pick to sign thus far, was 2 for 3 with a run scored.  Martinson is 4 for 10 in his first three games.  2010 10thround pick Blake Kelso was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.  201020thpick Chad Mozingo was 1-4 with an RBi. 

Gulf Coast League(Rookies) won 4-2 in their season debut.  Kevin Lopez pitched 5 innings and allowed 4 hits, 2 runs and struck out 5.  Carlos Martinez threw three scoreless innings and struck out 5.  Angel Montilla was 2-4 with a double and an RBi.  35th pick Tyler Oliver was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI.
