Nationals lose 4-2, minor league results
The Washington Nationals kicked off a 10 game road trip with a 4-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Livan Hernandez (4-3) pitched into the 5th inning, allowing 7 hits and 4 runs. Tyler Walker, Sean Burnett, and Miguel Batista pitched scoreless relief.
Washington only managed 4 hits the whole game as the offensive apparently took the night off in California. Josh Willingham and Ian Desmond drove in the two Nationals runs.
Luis Atilano takes the mound for the Nats tonight against stud Tim Lincecum. Atilano will try and recover from a 7 run, 9 hit battering over 4 innings in his last start.
Nationals fall back to .500 at 23-23.
Minor League Wrap up . . .
Syracuse Chiefs(27-17) lost 6-3. Matt Chico (1-1) threw 5 innings and allowed 6 hits and 3 run to take the loss. Josh Whitesell went 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs. Chase Lambin was 2-3 hitting his 6thhomer, doubling, and driving in a run. Lambin is hitting .322.
Harrisburg Senators(22-23) won 2-1 behind a quality start by Andrew Kwon. Kown pitched 7 innings, did not allow an earned run, while scattering 5 hits. In AA, he is now 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA. Combined between AA and AAA, Kown is 2-2 with a 2.06 ERA. Brad Cook, Mike Martinez, and Danny Espinosa were all 2 for 4 on the night.
Potomac Nationals(21-25) won 9-4. Patrick Lehman pitched 4.1 innings yielding 5 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 6. Adrian Alaniz (1-1) picked up the win, throwing 3.1 scoreless innings of relief and striking out 5. Cole Kimball pitched a scoreless 9thinning and lowered his ERA to 1.82. Kimball has not yielded a run in his last 10 games, throwing 11.1 scoreless innings of relief. Steve Lombardozzi was 2-4 with a double, triple, and scored 3 runs. He is hitting .284. Wilberto Oritz was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Michael Burgess was 2-5 with a run and RBI. He is hitting .291. Tyler Moore drove in 3 runs and Robert Jacobsen hit his first homer.
Hagerstown Suns(26-20) lost 9-2. 2009 draftee Paul Applebee got shelled for 7 runs and 6 hits in 2.2 innings. Francisco Soriano was 2-4 for the Suns, who managed only 4 hits on the night.
