Nats minor report: Marrero hits 10th homer
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) lost 6-4. Shairon Martis pitched 6 innings, allowed 7 hits, and 2 runs. Victor Garate (1-1) got pounded out of the pen for 3 runs in .1 inning. Boomer Whiting was 1 for 2 with a double and 2 runs. He is hitting .307. Chri Duncan doubled and knocked in 2 runs.
Harrisburg Senators (AA) won 4-3. Aaron Thompson (3-9) pitched 6.1 innings, allowed 7 hits and 0 earned runs. Rafael Martin also pitched 1.2 scoreless innings. Zechery Zinicola pitched a scoreless 9th for his 7th save. Chris Marrero was 2 for 4 and hit his 10th home run and drove in 2 runs to lead the Senators. Marvin Lowrance was 3 for 4 with a double and a run.
Potomac Nationals (A) were off. Michael Burgess went 1 for 4 with a double in the All Star Game, in which the Carolina League lost to the California League 4-3.
Hagerstown Suns were off. The North and South of the South Atlantic League tied 5-5 in their all star game. Suns C Sandy Leon was 0-2. P Dan Rosenbaum got whacked for 3 hits and 4 runs in 1 inning.
Vermont Lake Monsters (Short A) won 6-2. Bobby Hansen, a 2008 draft pick, pitched 4 scoreless innings with 3 hits and 8 strikeouts. Mark Herrera (1-0), 16th pick of this years draft, picked up his first win, throwing 2 scoreless innings. Blake Kelso, 10th round, 2010) swinging a hot bat going 2-5 with a double and a run. He is hitting .385 (5 for 13) on the season. Ronnie Labrie, a 2009 draftee, was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Justin Miller, 2010 draft, was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI.
GCL Nats (Rookie) lost 6-2. Marcos Frias, on rehab, allowed6 hits and 3 runs over 5 innings. Derrick Phillips was 2-4.
