Here are a few of the latest news pieces surrounding the Washington Nationals.  First, as expected, OF Josh Willingham has been placed on the 15 day disabled list.  Willingham has been bothered by a knee injury for the past few months.  Willingham started the season off on fire, hitting 16 homers and stayed close to the top of the Nats roster in RBI.  His production over the last 35 or so games has been significantly less, as he has pained through this knee injury.

Nyjer Morgan, previously on the DL, will be activated to replace Willingham.

Additionally, the Nationals welcome newly acquired prospect C Wilson Ramos to the Nats roster, for a few days.  Ramos was acquired during the trade deadline deal that sent P Matt Capps to Minnesota.  Ramos was considered a prized prospect in the Twins system.   Since arriving in Syracuse with the Nats AAA team, Ramos has hit .317 in 15 games with 2 doubles, a triple, and 2 home runs.  he has scored 12 runs and knocked in 6 runs.  Overall on the season, combined with his Twins AAA stats, Ramos is batting .254 with 16 doubles, 1 triple, and 7 home runs.

Ramos will be replacing Nats backup C Will Nieves for a few days as Nieves heads home for the birth of his child.  Ramos will backup Ivan Rodriguez, and it is unclear whether Ramos will get a start.

In the System . . . One day after being promoted from A-POT to AA-Harrisburg, 2007 first round pick, 49th overall, Michael Burgess went 2 for 4 and smacked 2 home runs.  Burgess has 14 home runs on the season.
