Nats Minor Rep: Ramos homers, Labrie drives in 7
Syracuse Chiefs won yesterday 3-1 behind strong pitching from Shairon Martis and a big bat by newly acquired Wilson Ramos. Martis threw 6 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5 batters. Adam Carr earned his second save in as many opportunities since he was promoted to AAA. Carr has not yielded a run yet. Newly acquired prospect Wilson Ramos went 2-4 and hit his first home run in the Nats system, his 6th on the year. Ramos drove in 2 runs.
Harrisburg Senators won in a 23 runs slugfest, 12-11. Aaron Thompson got rocked for 10 hits and 8 runs, 6 earned runs, over 3.2 innings. Rafael Martin (4-2) picked up the win, throwing 3 shutout innings of relief, allowing 0 hits and just 1 walk. Josh Johnson, Tim Phauta, and Aaron Fox each had 2 hits. Marvin Lowrance was 2-5 with a double and 2 runs. Chris Marrero went 2-3 and hit his 14th home run, scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 runs. Marrero is hitting .295. Devin Ivany hit his first home run.
Potomac Nationals did not play yesterday.
Hagerstown Suns lost 1-0. Evan Bronson (1-1) threw 6.2 innings and allowed only 1 unearned run, but that was enough to get tagged with the loss. The Suns offense only mustered 3 hits all day.
Vermont Lake Monsters won 13-4 behind Ronnie Labrie’s bat. Labrie went 3 for 5,hit his 3rd home run, scored 3 runs, and drove in 7 runs. That is not a misprint. Kevin Keyes went 2-5 doubled, scored and drove in a run. Blake Kelso went 1-5 and drove in 2 runs. Wade Moore had a two run double.
Gulf Coast Nationals lost 5-1. Kelvin Lopez threw 6 innings, gave up 7 hits and 2 runs and walked 4 batters. Randolph Oduber went 2 for 4 and doubled in a run. He is hitting .367.
