Nats minor report: Marrero homers, Whiting 3-3 in AAA debut

Syracuse won 7-4 yesterday.  Jeff Mandel threw 6 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs.  Athaulpha Severino (3-0) picked up the win throwing 1.1 scoreless innings while Joel Peralta picked up his 16thsave, lowering his ERA to 0.75.  Boomer Whiting made his AAA de but and went 3 for 3 with an RBI.  Peter Orr was 3-4.  Chase Lambin hit his 7th homer while Pedro Lopez his hit 2nd homer.  The Chiefs are in first place and have a record of 30-20.

Harrisburg Senators fell 11-9.  Aaron Thompson got rocked for 10 hits and 7 runs in 5.1 innings.  Brad Coon and Javier Solana each had 3 hits.  Edgar Baez and Danny Espinosa each had 2 hits.  Chris Marrero hit his 8thhomer, Solano his 3rd homer. Harrisburg is 25-26 and sits 8 games out of first.

Potomac Nationals won 4-3.  Evan Bronson pitched a strong 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs.  Steve Lombardozzi went 3 for 3 with an RBI and raised his batting average to .295.  He has hit .351 and scored 9 runs over his last 10 games.  Robert Jacobsen hit his 2nd homer for the Nationals.  Nationals are 23-28 and sit 6 games back.

Hagerstown picked up a 4-0 shutout.  Paul Demny pitched 5 scoreless innings and recorded 7 strikeouts.  Kyle Morrisonn threw 3 scoreless out of the bullpen.  Jeff Kobernus went 2 for 4 and Adrian Nieto went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Hagerstown is 28-23 and 3.5 games back.
