Nats minor report: Norris homers, Kimball lowers ERA to 1.09

Syracuse Chiefs lost 6-2.  Jason Jones pitched 7 innings and allowed 8 hits and 4 runs.  Justin Maxwell went 2 for 4 on the night.  He is hitting .286. 

Harrisburg won with a 4-0 shutout.  Andrew Kown (3-4) pitched 6 shut out innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 4.  Overall, he is 4-6 with a 3.63 ERA.  Cole Kimball threw two shutout innings and struck out 4 to lower his AA ERA to 1.09.  Overall, between A and AA, Kimball is 5-1 with 6 saves and an ERA of 1.46.  Marvin Lowrance went 2 for 3.  Jesus Valdez went 2 for 4 and hit his 4th home run.  Tim Pahuta hit home run number 7 for Harrisburg and 17th overall, leading the Nationals system. 

Potomac Nationals won 7-4.  Trevor Holder pitched 4.1 innings allowing 7 hits and 3 runs.  Corey Van Allen (2-3) picked up the win, throwing 1.2 innings and not allowing a run or hit.  Derek Norris hit his 5th home run and scored twice and drove in two runs.  He is hitting .239.  Michael Burgess was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. 

Hagerstown Suns lost 7-2.  Josh Smoker (1-9) continues to struggle, pitching 4 innings, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs.  Eury Perez was 3 for 4 with a triple.  Perez is 5 for 13 in his last 4 games. 

Vermont Lake Monsters did not play.

Gulf Coast Nationals won 8-4.  Kelvin Lopez pitched a full, 9 inning complete game for the Nats, allowing 11 hits, 3 earned runs and struck out 9.  He is now 1-0 with a 3.50 ERA.  Wander Ramos went 3 for 5, doubled and drove in 2 runs.  He is batting .314.  Hector Tavares also went 3 for 5, drove in 1 run and scored twice.  Tavares raised his batting average to .346.  2010 draftee Jeremy Mayo hit his 1st home run in a pinch hit scenario.  He drove in 2 runs and is hitting .364.
