Nats Minor League Scoreboard (7/30)
The Syracuse Chiefs split a double header yesterday. The Chiefs fell in game one 6-3. Jesus Valdez was 2 for 3 with a run. Carlos Rivero was 1 for 3 and hit his 6th home run and added 3 RBIs. John Lannan was hammered for 13 hits and 6 runs in just 3.1 innings. His record fell to 6-10. The Chiefs won game two by a score of 6-1 yesterday. Nats rehabbing OF Jayson Werth was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 2 walks. Rivero remained on an awesome tear at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double, homer, and 2 RBI. He raised his season batting average to .303. Rivero is batting .432 over his last 10 games with 3 home runs and 10 RBI.
Harrisburg Senators lost 3-2. The Senators offense only managed 6 singles. Ryan Perry threw 6 innings and did not allow a run om 2 hits and 4 strikeouts. Recently promoted Jimmy Barthmaier got tagged with a blown save and a loss, yielding 2 hits and 2 runs over .2 innings.
Potomac Nationals won 8-3. Jason Martinson was 3 for 4 with his 10th AA home run, 3 runs scored, and 2 runs driven in. Overall, Martinson has 20 homers and 96 RBI on the season. His RBI total leads the Nationals minor league system. Kevin Keyes went deep for the 15th time this season, while Rick Hague added his 6th homer. JP Ramirez was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Robbie Ray (4-7) pitched 6 innings and allowed 6 hits and 3 runs as he picked up the win. Joe Testa and Adam Barrett combined for 2.2 scoreless innings and allowed just 1 hit.
Hagerstown Suns won 6-0. Caleb Ramsey was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Cutter Dykstra was 2 for 4 with a double and a run. Adrian Nieto hit his 5th home run. Blake Schwartz, 17th overall pick in the 2012 draft, threw 6 scoreless innings, and scattered just 3 hits with 6 strikeouts. Christopher Bates picked up the save, throwing 3 scoreless innings and allowing just 1 hit. His season ERA lowered to 3.13.
Auburn lost 9-4. Tony Renda was 2 for 5 with 2 runs. The Nats 2011 1st pick overall, Anthony Rendon, was 1 for 3. Carlos Lopez was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI.
