Nats minor rep: Frietas hitting .397, Morris 5 scoreless innings

Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) lost last night 8-2.  Luis Atilano was racked fro 7 hits and 5 runs in 2.1 innings.  Seth Bynum was 2 for 5 with a double and Leonard Davis was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. 

Harrisburg Senators (AA) won 9-7.  Aaron Thompson allowed 5 hits and 3 runs over 6 innings.  Cole Kimball got touched up for his third blown save, allowing 3 runs over 1 inning.  Closer Zechery Zinicola (2-3) picked up the win, pitching a scoreless 9th inning and striking out 2.  His AA ERA is down to 1.33.  Jesus Valdez provided the big offensive spark, hitting his 6th and 7thhome runs and driving in 6 runs.   Danny Espinosa triples and drive in 2 runs. 

Potomac Nationals (A) won 6-1 behind 5 shutout innings by 2009 draftee AJ Morris.  Morris allowed 2 hits and recorded 5 strike outs.  Overall on the season, Morris is 2-2 in 15 starts with a 3.46 ERA.  He has 54 strikeouts in 65 innings.  Dan Leatherman continues to impress in the Nationals bullpen, picking up his 9th save, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings.  He lowered his ERA to 1.88.  Josh Johnson was 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Tyler Moore went 2 for 3 doubling and homering, his 11th home run. 

Hagerstown Suns (A) lost 9-6.  Paul Demny (6-3) allowed 6 hits and 6 runs over 4.1 innings.  Jeff Kobernus went 2-4 and scored twice.  Justin Bloxom went 3-4, scored a run and drove one in.  He raised his average to .319.  Brett Newsome and Sandy Leon each went 2 for 4 for the Suns. 

Vermont Lake Monsters (Short A) won 7-6.  Chris McKenzie allowed 5 hist and 2 earned runs over 3.2 innings.  Fellow 2010 draftees Aaron Barrett and Mark Herrera threw 2 scoreless innings.  Herrera lowered his ERA to 0.64.  Russell Moldenhauer went 2 for 3 and drove in 2 runs.  David Frietas went 3-5 doubled, scored, and drove in a run.  He raised his batting average to a whopping .397.  Over his last 10 games, Frietas is hitting .463.  Wade Moore went 2 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI.  Jason Martinson went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  He raised his average to .261 and has an 8 game hitting streak (9 for 27, .333).
