Nats minor report: Chiefs, Senators win
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) continued their winning ways behind two recent promotions. Starter Eric Arnesen made his first AAA start and went 4.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run and whiffed 2 batters. Mike MacDougal blew the save, but picked up the win. Closer Joel Peralta continues to absolutely dominate, recording his 17th save and lowering his ERA to .072. Boomer Whiting also continues to shine, going 1 for 3 with a triple and driving in 4 runs. he is not 5 for 10 with 5 RBIs in three agmes since being promoted from Harrisburg. Is Whiting becoming a leadoff option in Washington?
Harrisburg Senators(AA) won 5-1 behind the arm of Jason Jones. Jones threw 5 scoreless innings and recorded 6 strikeouts to improve to 11. DannY Espinosa went 2 for 5 and his hs 5th homer. Chris marrero was 4 for 5 with a double, run and an RBI. Edgar Baez was 3 for 4 with a double and a run.
Potomac Nationals(A) won 12-4. Brad Peacock allowed 9 hits and 3 runs in 4.2 innings. Clayton Dill earned the win pitching 2.1 scoreless innings. Steve Lombardozzi was 2- with a double and a run. he is hitting .295. Derek Norris went 2-6 with a run and 2 RBI. Bill Rhinehart was 3 for 5 with a double ad an RBI. Nick Moresi went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored.
Hagerstown Suns (A) lost 5-3. Justin Bloxom was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. he improved back to .300. Josh Smoker pitched 5 shutout innings for the Suns and recorded 3 strikeouts.
