Nats minor league roundup (5/1), Rosenbaum sharp again
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) pounded Charlotte last night 12-4. Recently promoted Josh Johnson went 3 for 5 with 2 runs. Mark Teahen was 2 for 5 with 2 RBI. Jarrett Hoffpauir knocked in 3 runs on 2 hits. John Lannan (2-2) threw 7 innings and allowed 4 hits and 1 run while fanning 6 batters to earn the win. He lowered his ERA to 5.19.
Harrisburg Senators (AA) lost 1-0 and only managed 2 hits offensively. The Senators blew another outstanding start from super pitching prospect Danny Rosenbaum. Rosenbaum tossed 7 scoreless innings and allowed 6 hits while fanning 5. He lowered his overall ERA to a barely recordable 0.76. In 5 starts, Rosenbaum has allowed just 3 earned runs and 2 walks in 35.2 innings. Amazing stuff.
Potomac Nationals (A) lost 10-5 to Winston-Salem and got pounded for 17 hits. David Frietas was 3 for 4 and raised his batting average to .333. Blake Kelso and Rick Hague each had 2 hits. Hague was making his Nats debut after starting season on the DL. Michael Taylor added a triple with 3 runs driven in. Kyle Winters got pounded for 9 hist and 5 runs over 4.1 innings. The bullpen was not much better. Ryan Demmin and Neil Holland combined for 3 innings and allowed 7 hist and 5 runs.
Hagerstown Suns (A) lost 7-1. Matt Skole was 1 for 4 with an RBI. Taylor Hill (3-1) took the loss allowing 6 hits and 3 runs over 4 innings. Nathan Karns continues to tear up the Suns bullpen, throwing 3 scoreless innings and recording 8 strikeouts.
