Around the Nats minor leagues

The Syracuse Chiefs recorded a 4-0 shutout over Scranton-Wilkes Barre today.  Yunesky Maya (1-0) allowed 4 hits and struck out 4 over 6 scoreless innings.  Bryce Harper was 1 for 3 and has a hit in each of the Chiefs first three games.  Harper is 4 for 11 with a double on the season.  Tyler Moore was 3 for 4 for the Chiefs.  Seth Bynum homered.   It was Syracuse's first win, sitting at 1-2 on the season.

Harrisburg Senators hammered Bowie 13-3 today to improve to 2-1.  The Senators pounded out 16 hits.  Eury Perez, who impressed the Nationals in spring training, was 3 for 6 with a run and an RBI.  He is batting .400.  Rick Ankiel, on rehab assignment, went 2 for 32 ad homered in consecutive nights. Jeff Kobernus, Josh Johnson, Tim Puhuta, and Jose Lozada each had 2 hits.   Jeff Mandel pitched 5.2 innings and allowed 6 hits and 3 runs in his first start.  Patrick McCoy (1-0) threw 1.1 scoreless innings and earned the win.

Potomac Nationals dropped their second game of the season, 7-2 to Lynchburg, and start out 0-2.  Sean Nichol went 2 for 2 with 2 doubles.  Anthony Rendon was 1 for 1 with a double.  Paul Applebee threw three scoreless innings of relief.

Hagerstown Suns are currently playing and leading 4-1 in the 7th inning.  Nats draft pick Alex Meyer threw 5 scoreless innings in his first appearance as a National, recording 5 strikeouts.  Jason Martinson and Matthew Skole have two hits.  Draft pick Brian Goodwin is 1 for 4 with a double, run, and RBI.
