Desmond hits walk off homer, snaps Nats slump
The Washington Nationals have snapped a five game losing steak with a two-run walk off home run shot by Ian Desmond in the 9th inning. The walk off shot gave the Nats a 5-4 win over the DBacks.
One of the big stories of this game was phenom Bryce Harper. Harper went 3-4 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI. Harper raised his batting average to .385. Simply incredible. Harper is just not ripping the ball, but this kid hustles and gives all out effort every time he hits the field.
Steve Lombardozzi doubles in Wilson Ramos in the third inning to give the Nats an early 1-0 lead. After the DBacks took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning, the Nats jumped back out on an RBI double from Harper and an error on the catcher that scored Ramos.
The DBacks scored twice in the sixth inning to take a 4-3 lead that would lady until Desmond's walk off blast.
Edwin Jackson tossed 6 innings and allowed 8 hits and 4 runs. Henry Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the win.
