Early Nats minor league leaders
Just a few games into the baseball season, we take a look at the first week winners.
AAA Syracuse:
Corey Brown batted .286 with a triple. Brown is highly rated prospect that could see time in Washington this season. Another highly touted outfield prospect is phenom Bruce Harper. In his first 15 at bats, Harper has 4 hits including a double. Cuban pitching prospect Yunesky Maya had an awesome start to his season, tossing 6 shutout innings and scattering 4 hits and recording 4 strikeouts.
AA Harrisburg:
21 year old Eury Perez impressed the Washington Nationals in spring training. He has not slowed down at AA. In his first 4 games, Perez has 8 hits in 19 plate appearances (.421) with a triple and 4 RBI. Jeff Kobernus, another Washington draft pick, is 7 for 17 (.412) in his first 4 games . He has scored 4 runs for the Senators. Big time pitching prospect Daniel Rosenbaum had a great start on his first appearance, pitching 6 innings and allowing just 1 run on 4 hits. He starts the season 1-0.
A Potomac:
Anthony Rendon was 2 for 4 with a double and triple in his first at bats. The 2011 first round pick also got injured in what is now deemed to be a 'bad ankle sprain". He will likely be sidelined for a few weeks.
A Hagerstown:
Washington's 2011 fifth round pick Matthew Skole is off to a good start, batting .429 with 2 doubles and 7 RBI. 2011 second round pick Brian Goodwin is 5 for 14 (.357) with a double and 2 home runs early on. He has driven in 8 runs. OF Caleb Ramsey is 4 for 12 with a triple. 2010 fifth rounder Jason Martinson is batting .308 with 6 runs and 2 doubles. Nationals highly touted 211 draft pick Alex Meyer picked up his first professional win, throwing 5 scoreless innings and allowing just 2 hist and striking out 4.
