Nats 2012 MLB Draft Class update
Time to check in on the progress of the Washington Nationals 2012 MLB Draft Class.
1st Round: P Lucas Giolito. Giolito is not playing yet in the minor league system. He is in the Nationals camp in Veiro, Florida working on a rehab plan under Nats pitching coordinator Spin Williams. Giolito is recovering from a sprained ulnar-collateral ligament. under close eye of staff.
2nd Round: IF Tony Renda. Renda was assigned to Auburn. Renda has played second base in 46 games and 184 at bats, Renda is batting .223. He has six doubles, 28 runs scored, 16 runs driven in and 10 stolen bases. he has committed 5 fielding errors. He has a .310 on base percentage.
3rd Round: P Brett Mooneyham. Mooneyham was assigned to Auburn. Mooneyham has appeared in 6 games, 5 of which he made starts. He has posted a 1-1 record with a 2.53 ERA. In 21.1 total innings, Mooneyham has walked 8 while fanning 14. Batters have batted .238 against Mooneyham and he has posted a 1.27 WHIP.
4th Round: OF Brandon Miller. Miller has played in 4 games at Auburn. He has hit .214 with 3 doubles and a triple. He has scored 4 runs and driven in 5.
5th Round: C Spencer Kieboom: Kieboom was drafted for his defensive prowess. He has appeared in 27 games at Auburn and is batting .228 with 4 doubles. He has scored 7 runs and driven in 12.
6th Round: OF Hayden Jennings: Jenning has been assigned to the rookie Gulf Coast League. Jennings has appeared in 33 games and is batting .198. he has 2 doubles and 2 triples. Jennings has scored 12 runs and swiped 13. He has a .248 on base percentage.
7th Round: P Robert Benincasa: Benincasa was drafted as a reliever and has been assigned to Auburn and has appeared in 10 games out of the bullpen. In 10 appearances, he is 2-0 with a 3.07 ERA. In 14.1 innings, he has allowed just 2 walks with 22 strike outs.

20th Round: SS James Brooks. Brooks appeared in 15 games with the GCL rookie league. he batted .302with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 7 runs, and 6 RBI in 15 games. He was promoted to Auburn and is batting .031 with just 1 hit in 32 plate appearances. Overall, Brooks is batting .200.
21st Round: C Austin Chubb. Chubb was assigned to the GCL. In 18 games, he has 51 at bats and is hitting .255 with 5 doubles and 2 homers. He has scored 4 runs and driven in 12. Chubb has a .304 on base percentage.
22nd Round: P Will Hudgins. Hudgins has appeared in 8 games for the GCL Nats and started 6 of them. He has posted a 3-3 record with an ERA of 2.83. In 28.2 innings, Hudgins has allowed just 2 walks and recorded 16 strike outs.
23rd Round: OF Casey Selsor. Selsor has only played in 3 games and is 1 for 6.
24th Round: P Kevin Dicharry. DiCharry was assigned to the GCL. He has appeared in 13 games our of the bullpen and posted a 2-1 record with 4 saves. His ERA is 2.89. In 18.2 innings, Dicharry has walked only 2 while fanning 21. Opposing batters are only batting .221 off of Dicharry.
28th Round: SS Hunter Bailey. Bailey was assigned to the GCL and has appeared in 20 game sand is batting .280. He has 4 doubles and has scored 8 runs and drive in 3. Bailey has an on base percentage of .333.
29th Round: P Leonard Hollins. Hollins was assigned to Auburn. He appeared in 5 games out of the pen and did not allow a run in in 9 innings. He allowed 3 walks and had 9 strike outs. Hollins was promoted to Hagerstown. In 5 games, he is 1-0 with a 5.91 ERA. He has appeared in 10.2 innings and allowed 8 runs. Overall, Hollins is 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA. Batters have batted .194 on Hollins.
31st Round: P Michael Boyden. Boyden was originally assigned to the GCL. He appeared in 6 games and did not allow a run in 8.2 innings. He recorded 1 save and did not allow a walk, but fanned 12. He was promoted to Auburn. In 6 games with Auburn, he is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA. He has appeared in 11 innings and allowed 2 runs on 6 walks and 8 strike outs. Overall, Boyden is an impressive 2-0 with a 0.92 ERA. He has allowed 6 walks to 20 strike outs in 19.2 innings.
32nd Round: P Mike Mudron. Mudron was assigned to the GCL and has appeared in 8 games. He has posted a 0-1 record with a 4.29 ERA. In 21 innings, he has walked 7 and struck out 21.
33rd Round: 2B Mike McQuillan. McQuillan appeared in 19 games with the GCL Nats and batted .375 in 56 at bats. He was promoted to Auburn. At Auburn, McQuillon is batting .303 in 76 at bats. Overall, McQuillon is batting .333 with 6 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 homers. He has scored 21 runs, driven in 17 and has 2 stolen bases. He has a .417 on base percentage and a .447 slugging percentage.
