Nats minor report: Strong start by Milone wasted
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) won 36-2 behind a strong pitching performance by Shairon Martis. Martis went 6 innings, allowed 4 hits and 1 run. He struck out 6. Atahulpha Severino earned the save, pitching 3 scoreless innings. Kevin Mench was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Justin Maxwell was 2 for 4 and homered. Bill Rhinehart, in his second game since being promoted from Potomac, went 1 for 1 and hit his first AAA home run. He scored twice and drove in a run.
Harrisburg Senators (AA) lost 3-0, despite a top notch pitching start by Tom Milone (5-2). Milone went 7 innings, allowed 1 run and struck out 8 batters. Milone lowered his ERA to 3.18. Chris Marrero went 2 for 4 and has hit .349 over his last ten games.
Potomac Nationals (A) lost 9-4 and managed only 4 hits. Adrian Alaniz was hammered for 9 hits and 7 runs in 4 innings. Steve Lombardozzi was 1 for 4 with a triple. He is hitting .361 over his last 10 games. Tyler Moore hit his 8th homer and drove in 3 runs.
Hagerstown Suns (A) fell 4-3. Daniel Rosenbaum (1-3) pitched 5 innings, allowed 7 hits and 1 earned run. Rosenbaum has posted an ERA of 1.85 on the season. Eury Perez was 2 for 2 for the Suns. Brett Newsome and Jeff Kobernus each knocked in a run.
