Nats minor report: Holder makes first Potomac start
Syracuse Chiefs(AAA) won 5-4 last night. Jeff Mandel pitched 5 innings, allowed 6 hits and 4 runs. Mike MacDougal (2-0) threw 2 scoreless innings and earned the win. Joel Peralta threw a scoreless 9th inning for his 19thsave. Kevin Mench (2) and Chase Lambin (8) each homered for the Chiefs. Jamie Burke went 2 for 4 with a run and 2 RBI.
Harrisburg Senators (AA) won 5-1 behind a strong start by Andrew Kown (2-2). Kown tossed 6.1 innings, scattering 8 hits and allowing 1 run. Overall, between AA and AAA, Kown is 3-4 with a 3.00 ERA. Danny Espinosa his a grand slam home run to lead the Senators run production. It was Espinosa’s 6thhomer of the year. Chris Marrero and Mike Martinez were both 2-4 with a double. Tim Pahuta was 2 for 3 and is 6 for 11 in his last 3 games.
Potomac Nationals(A) lost 7-6 in 12 innings. Trevor Holder made his first start since being promoted from Hagerstown and pitched 5 innings, allowed 8 hits and 3 runs. Chris Curren was 3 for 6 with a double. Current has hit .395 over his last ten games. Steve Lombardozzi had an RBI double. Michael Burgess hit his 6thhome run. Bill Rhinehart was 1-5 with a double and 3 RBI.
Hagerstown Suns (A) were postponed.
