Nats Minor Rep: Danny Espinosa, Tyler Moore explode

Syracuse Chiefs got shutout 4-0.  Jeff Mandel (45) took the loss, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs over 7.2 innings.  Boomer Whiting was 2 for 4.  He is hitting .281.  The Chiefs only managed three other hits. 

Harrisburg Senators won 6-3.  Tom Milone threw 6.2 innings and allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits and 4 strike outs.  Chuck James (4-0) earned the win, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings.  Between AA and AAA, James is 6-1 with 2 saves and a 2.42 ERA.  He lowered his AA ERA to 1.13.  Zechery Zinicola pitched a scoreless 9th inning to earn his 11th save.  The big bat came from Danny Espinosa, who went 5 for 5 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI.  It was home run number 12 and 13 for Espinosa.  He is 9 for 13 in his last 3 games.  Jhontan Solano had a 3 run RBI double. 

Potomac Nationals won big 13-0 behind 6 shutout innings from Adrian Alaniz 5-3).  Alaniz allowed just 3 hits and struck out 4.  he lowered his ERA to 2.62.  Justin Phillabaum and Patrick McCoy completed the shutout out of the Senators bullpen.  Josh Johnson was 3 for 5 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBi.  Michael Burgess was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 runs.  The big bat came from Tyler Moore who went 4 for 5 with a double and 2 home runs, numbers 12 and 13.  Moore drove in 5 runs.  Over his last 5 games, Moore is 12 for 12.  He is hitting .405 with 3 home runs and 14 RBI over his last 10 games.  Struggling below the .200 mark the entire season, Moore’s tear has moved him up to .216.  Bill Rhinhart (7) and Jose Lozada (4) each homered.      

Hagerstown Suns did not play

Vermont Lake Monsters were postponed for rain.

GCL Nationals won 6-0 behind incredible pitching.  Kelvin Lopez (3-0) pitched 5 no hit, shutout innings to earn the win.  His ERA sites at 2.25.  Christian Meza and Tim Dupuis preserved the shutout.  Meza allowed the only hit as the three combined for a one hit shutout.  Adrian Sanchez was 2 for 5 with a double 2 runs and an RBi.  Hector Tavares knocked in 2 runs.
