Nats minor league Sunday review, Lannan gets pounded

Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) got pounded yesterday 11-2.  John Lannan is having an awful time in the minors, pitching 5 innings and getting hammered for 7 hits and 6 runs.  His ERA rose to 6.10.  Corey Van Allen got roughed up from the bullpen for 3 hits and 3 runs over 1 inning.  His season ERA rose to 8.44.  Mark Teahen and Xavier Paul each had 2 hits.

Harrisburg Senators (AA) lost 2-1.  Robert Gilliam, acquired in the Gio Gonzalez trade, pitched well again, throwing 6 innings and allowing 5 hits, 1 run, while fanning 6.  He lowered his season ERA to 4.28.  Gilliam has allowed just 1 run over his last 2 starts, totaling 13. 2 innings. Marcus Frias took the loss out of the bullpen.

Potomac Nationals (A) won 3-1.  Matthew Grace (2-3) pitched 6.1 innings and allowed 8 hits but just 1 run.  Rob Wort pitched another fine performance out of the pen, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings and not allowing a hit or run, but fanning 4 batters. Wort lowered his season ERA to 1.26.   Wort has had six consecutive bullpen appearances without leaving in an earned run.  Blake Kelso and Michael Taylor each had 2 hits.  Adrian Sanchez went 2 for 3 and raised his batting average to .340.  Kevin Keyes smacked his 5th home run.

Hagerstown Suns (A) managed just 2 hits in a 4-1 loss.  Taylor Hill (3-2) pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 hits and 1 run.
