Jayson Werth undergoes surgery on wrist, could miss 12 weeks
As reported earlier, Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth broke his wrist in Sunday's series ender with the Philadelphia Phillies. He has not undergone surgery on the wrist. The injury to Werth is another injury blow tot he first place Nationals. Washington has already missed mike Morse, has not played yet this season, and Ryan Zimmerman, who has been for nearly three weeks.
According to Bill Ladson, the Nats are likely without Werth for at least 12 weeks. That puts Werth on the sidelines until deep into the season, most likely late August. The Nats have little option sin the outfield and could become a prime target for a trade.
Nationals are hoping to get punch back int heir lineup with the returns of Ryan Zimmerman and Adam LaRoche.
