Nats Minor Rep: Danny Espinosa homers again
Syracuse Chiefs won 8-5. Erik Arnesen (3-5) threw 6 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit. Ron Villone allowed 4 runs in just a third of an inning. Boomer Whiting went 2-4 and scored three runs. Whiting raised his batting average to .287 and is hitting .364 over his last 10 games. He is 9 for 19 over his last 6 games and 4 of those games he has had multiple hits. Chase Lambin tripled in a run. Leonard Davis hit his 9th AAA home run and 14th overall on the season.
Harrisburg Senators won 2-0 behind 6.2 shutout innings by Aaron Thompson. Thompson allowed 3 hits and struck out 7. Adam Carr picked up his 4th save, throwing a scoreless 9thinning. Overall, Carr is 6-1 with 4 saves and a 3.17 ERA. Danny Espinosa homered for the 4thtime in his last three games, hitting number 14 and driving in both Senators runs. Espinosa is now hitting .261 with 14 home runs and 41 RBI in 85 games. He is also hitting .350 over his last 10 games with 5 home runs and 12 runs driven in. Jesus Valdez and Ofilio Castro each had 2 hits.
Potomac Nationals were postponed because of rain.
Hagerstown Suns lost 7-6 in 12 innings. Evan Bronson pitched 5 innings allowing 8 hits and 3 runs. Dean Weaver blew his 7th save, giving up 2 hits and 2 runs in 1 inning. Luis Garcia took the loss allowing a run in the 12thinning. Justin Bloxom was 1 for 6 with a double and RBI. Brett newsome was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Stephen King drove in 2 runs. Eury Perez was 3 for 5 and remains on a tear. He is not hitting .417 over his last 10 games and has raised his average to .268, after spending most of the season in the .220s. He is 5 for 7 over his last two games.
Vermont Lake Monsters lost 2-1. Bobby Hansen pitched 6 strong innings giving up 1 unearned run and scattering 5 hits with 5 strike outs. Chris Bates (2-1) took the loss allowing 1 run over 2 innings. David Frietas went 2-4 with a double and an RBI. He is batting .381. Ronnie Labrie also doubled and went 2 for 4.
