Washington Nationals draft class update (8/16)
Time to check in on the progress of the Washington Nationals 2012 MLB Draft Class. We rate some of the draft class members base don performance. If we rate a KEEP an EYE on,m it is because they have limited stats, but have shown promise. We rate starts from good to best based on stats. Those players that have been impressive so far are rated *** or **** or ***** with 5 start being the best in the class. If a player does not have any stars, then they haven't earned them.
1st Round: P Lucas Giolito. Giolito pitched his first game with the GCL Nationals in his rehab from a sprained ulnar ligament in his elbow. Giolito pitched 2 innings, allowed 1 run on 1 hit and struck out 1.
2nd Round: IF Tony Renda. Renda was assigned to Auburn. Renda has played second base in 52 games and 208 at bats, Renda is batting .226. He has six doubles, 30 runs scored, 17 runs driven in and 12 stolen bases. he has committed 6 fielding errors. He has a .309 on base percentage.
3rd Round: P Brett Mooneyham. Mooneyham was assigned to Auburn. Mooneyham has appeared in 7 games, 6 of which he made starts. He has posted a 1-2 record with a 3.08 ERA. In 26.1 total innings, Mooneyham has walked 10 while fanning 18. Mooneyham and he has posted a 1.33 WHIP.
4th Round: OF Brandon Miller. Miller has played in 9 games at Auburn. He has hit .276 with 3 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 homers. 6 of Miller's 8 hits have been for extra bases. He has scored 6 runs and driven in 7. We Rate: KEEP AN EYE ON
5th Round: C Spencer Kieboom: Kieboom was drafted for his defensive prowess. He has appeared in 30 games at Auburn and is batting .205 with 5 doubles. He has scored 8 runs and driven in 13.
6th Round: OF Hayden Jennings: Jenning has been assigned to the rookie Gulf Coast League. Jennings has appeared in 41 games and is batting .191. he has 2 doubles and 2 triples. Jennings has scored 15 runs and swiped 15. He has a .248 on base percentage.
7th Round: P Robert Benincasa: Benincasa was drafted as a reliever and has been assigned to Auburn and has appeared in 12 games out of the bullpen. He has posted a record 2-0 with 1 save and an ERA of 3.18 ERA. In 17 innings, he has allowed just 3 walks with 26 strike outs. We Rate: * * *
8th Round: SS Stephen Perez. Perez was assigned to Auburn. In 21 games, Perez is batting .231 with 5 doubles, 2 triples, and a homer. He has scored 11 runs, driven in 12 runs, and stolen 3 bases. He has a .644 on base percentage. He has three fielding errors. He has a .250 on base percentage.

18th Round: P David Fischer. Fischer was assigned to Auburn. Fischer has appeared in 9 games, making 5 starts. He is 2-3 with a 4.76 ERA. In 34 innings, Fischer has 7 walks and 20 strike outs. His last outing, he threw 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run.
19 Round: 1B Bryan Lippincott. Lippincott was assigned to the rookie GCL. He has appeared in 36 games and is batting .286. He has 9 doubles and a triple. He has scored 9 runs and driven in 11. he has a .375 on base percentage. Lippincott is heating up, batting .394 over his last 10 games. We Rate: * * *

21st Round: C Austin Chubb. Chubb was assigned to the GCL. In 20 games, he is hitting .224 with 5 doubles and 2 homers. He has scored 4 runs and driven in 12.

24th Round: P Kevin Dicharry. DiCharry was assigned to the GCL. He has appeared in 15 games our of the bullpen and posted a 3-1 record with 4 saves. His ERA is 2.82. In 21.1 innings, Dicharry has walked only 2 while fanning 22. Dicharry has an impressive WHIP of 0.85. We Rate: * * * *
28th Round: SS Hunter Bailey. Bailey was assigned to the GCL and has appeared in 22 game sand is batting .239. He has 6 doubles and has scored 11 runs and drive in 4. Bailey has an on base percentage of .338.
29th Round: P Leonard Hollins. Hollins was assigned to Auburn. He appeared in 5 games out of the pen and did not allow a run in in 9 innings. He allowed 3 walks and had 9 strike outs. Hollins was promoted to Hagerstown. In 5 games, he is 1-0 with a 5.91 ERA. He has appeared in 10.2 innings and allowed 8 runs. Overall, Hollins is 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA. 31st Round: P Michael Boyden. Boyden was originally assigned to the GCL. He appeared in 6 games and did not allow a run in 8.2 innings. He recorded 1 save and did not allow a walk, but fanned 12. He was promoted to Auburn. In 6 games with Auburn, he is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA. He has appeared in 13 innings and allowed 3 runs on 9 walks and 12 strike outs. 32nd Round: P Mike Mudron. Mudron was assigned to the GCL and has appeared in 9 games. He has posted a 0-1 record with a 3.86 ERA. In 23.1 innings, he has walked 8 and struck out 26.
33rd Round: 2B Mike McQuillan. McQuillan appeared in 19 games with the GCL Nats and batted .375 in 56 at bats. He was promoted to Auburn. At Auburn, McQuillon is batting .281 in 85 at bats with 5 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 homers. Overall, McQuillon is batting .317 with 6 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 homers.
