Nats minors report: Lannan hammered in AA, Swynenberg sizzles
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) lost 9-4. Matt Chico got pounded for 10 hits and 8 runs, 6 earned, in 4.2 innings for Syracuse. Justin Maxwell was 2 for 4 with a double and his 4thhome run. Chase Lambin and Peter Orr each had 2 hits.
Harrisburg Senators(AA) lost 7-4. Recently demoted John Lannan got pounded for 10 hits and 6 runs over 6 innings. Lannan’s 2010 struggles continue
Potomac Nationals (A) lost 4-2. Brad Peacock (2-9) took the loss, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs over 4.2 innings. The Nationals only managed 4 hits and Josh Johnson had 2 of them, going 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
Hagerstown Suns(A) lost 3-2. Mitchell Clegg pitched 5.2 innings, allowed 2 runs on 5 hits. Clegg has a season ERA sitting at 2.60. Kyle Morrison (2-5) took the loss out of the pen, allowing a run in 1.2 innings. The Suns offense only managed to generate 3 hits.
Vermont recorded an 8-0 shutout between nifty pitching by 2009 28thround pick matt Swynenberg (2-0). Swynenberg pitched 6 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits. He has made three starts and is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.57. Stephen King was 2 for 5. Carlos Moldenhaur went 2-4 and hit his first 2 home runs, driving in 3 runs. Fellow 2010 draftee Justin Miller also homered and drove in 3 runs.
