The Nationals have signed left handed relief pitcher Mike Gonzalez to a minor league contract.
The 33 year old Gonzalez spent last season with the Texas Rangers.
When healthy, Gonzalez has great stuff, having served as a closer in both Pittsburgh and Atlanta.
Gonzalez will work out at the Nationals spring training facility in Viera, Florida to get properly tuned up.
Manager Dave Johnson could opt to add another left hander to the bullpen at some point this summer.
The Nationals have used only Sean Burnett in a left handed short relief in recent seasons.
