Nats underway, getting pounded by Phils (UPDATED)
The start of the Washington Nationals season is now underway as the Nats opened up the season today against the defending World Champ Philadelphia Phillies. Opening Day also featured US President Barack Obama tossing out the opening pitch.

GAME UPDATE: The Nationals and Phillies are currently in the bottom of the third inning with the Nationals leading the Phillies 1-0. Washington has 3 hits and 1 run, while John Lannan has silenced the Phillies through 3 inning for just 1 hit and 0 runs.
Washington has three hits by Nyjer Morgan, Ryan Zimmerman, and Ivan Rodriguez. Zimmerman knocked in Morgan for the game's only score.
UPDATE: Nats lead last 3 innings. Phillies big guy Ryan Howard hit a 2 shot blast off Lannan to start a 5 run 4th inning and give the Phillies a 5-1 lead. The Lannan line --- 3.2 innings pitched, 7 hits and 5 runs. Jessee English came on in relief and tossed 1.1 shutout innings.
UPDATE: Things have not gotten much better for the Nats. In fact, they have just gone down right awful. Nationals are getting spanked by the Phillies 11-1. English was effective in trelief, but Miguel Batista, takign over for Englished got rocked for 3 hits, 4 walks, and 5 runs in just 1/2 innings of work. The Phillies have out hit the Nats 11-6. Jason Bergmann yielded a run in 1/3 of an inning.
