Nats Minor Rep: AJ Morris pitches 6 shutout innings
Syracuse Chiefs (AAA) got shutout 5-0 yesterday. Erik Arnesen (3-6) allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 6 innings to take the loss for the Chiefs. Jason Botts, Leonard Davis, and Peter Orr each had two hits. The Chiefs are 54-48 in second place, 4 games out of first.
Harrisburg Senators (AA) pounded Portland 10-3 with a 17 hit barrage. Tom Milone (7-5) led the Senators on the mounding, pitching 5.1 shutout innings and scattering just 5 hits while striking out 6. He lowered his ERA to 3.08. Rafael Martin pitched the 9th inning striking out 2 batters. Marvin Lowrance went 3 for 5 and hit home runs number 8 and 9. He scored twice and drove in 2 runs. Tim Pahuta, Mike Martinez, Devin Ivany, Adam Fox, and Brad Coon each had 2 hits. Fox and Coon also drove in 2 runs. The Senators are 52-50 in 4th place at 7 games out.
Potomac Nationals (A) blew out Winston Salem 13-3 on a 17 hit barrage. AJ Morris took the win and improved to 3-2. The 2009 4th round pick threw 6 shutout innings only allowing 2 hits and recording 5 strike outs. He lowered his ERA to 3.30. Steve Lombardozzi was 2 for 6 with a double, a run scored, and 2 RBI. Wilfredo Ortiz went 4 for 6 with 2 runs and 3 RBI. Derek Norris was 2 for 5 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI. Dan Lyons hit his first home run scored 3 times and drove in 3 runs. Potomac is 16-12 in the second half of the season, sitting 1 game out.
Hagerstown Suns (A) was postponed from rain.
Vermont Lake Monsters (Short A) lost 10-8. Chris Bates pitched 4.1 innings allowing 8 hits and 5 runs. Mark Herrera (2-1) blew his first save, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs. Blake Kelso went 3-4 with 2 RBI. He is hitting .330. David Frietas hit his 2nd home run and is hitting .380. Wade Moore went 2 for 5 and had 2 triples. Chad Mozingo, Ronnie Labrie, and Kevin Keyes each had 2 hits. Vermont is 23-13 and sit in first place of the NYP Stedler Division.
