The Washington Nationals put up little offense today.  In fact, they only managed 4 hits over 9 innings.  They managed only 1 run in 9 innings, that even coming in an unimpressive manner, a ground out by Adam Dunn that scored Nyjer Morgan.

But, another fact is, on this Sunday afternnoon, that is all the National needed to defeat the LA Dodgers.

Scott Olsen pitched 7 scoreless innings, scattering 6 hits and striking out 8 to lead the Nationals to a shut down f the Dodgers.  Of Olsen's 99 pitched, 71 were for strikes as he was on his game today.  Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless 8th inning to hold the lead for Olsen.  What a terrific season Clippard has put together thus far.  Today marked his 9th bullpen appearance in which he has yielded just 1 run over 14.2 innings of work.   Clip also recorded his 19th strikeout.

Matt Capps pitched a scoreless 9th inning to pick up his National League leading 8th save of the season.   Capps lowered his ERA to 0.79.

With the win today, the Nationals move to 10-9 and remain in third place in the NL East.  They have now won 7 of their last 11.
